:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: By granting AMP digital distribution rights, there are many benefits for labels and music producers trying to get their tracks positioned onto online music services. Some of these benefits include: • Guaranteed placement. We have connections with ALL of the major online sites and many will not deal with small labels or independent producers. AMP can guarantee that your music can be heard (and sold) on all of the sites you choose. • Power in numbers. Our deals with digital music companies are leveraged by the strength of our collective labels and producers and our growing catalog of quality music. • Mastering and high quality encoding. If necessary, your tracks can be mastered specifically for digital downloads and cds which have different requirements than mastering for vinyl. While many sites handle digital encoding, we can do all the music encoding in-house using the best AAC (mp4) and mp3 encoding technology to ensure the highest possible sound quality of your music. • Rebranding/Repackaging. Many of the larger online sites will not accept small-sized collections of tracks such as "12-inch singles" or "EPs" which are a prevalent format for dance music in particular. AMP can assist you in the repackaging of groups of tracks or singles into an album which will then be in an acceptable format for these sites. We also offer professional graphic design tailored for digital music outlets so that your releases will stand out and be noticed. • ISRC numbers and UPC codes. These numbers and codes, traditionally found on physical products, are REQUIRED in order to place tracks on the major online services. To get an ISRC number, you need to have set up a label with a tax id number and register your label with the RIAA. A UPC code is cost prohibitive for a small label or independent producer. AMP takes care of all this and leaves you to continue managing your label and creating your music. • Non-exclusive digital licenses. AMP's licensing agreements are non-exclusive, meaning you still retain the rights to the track. You can still deal independently with other online sites or digital distributors as you choose. The contract can be terminated at any time with 45 days notice. Important: for legal and copyright reasons, individual tracks cannot be distributed to the same online site from multiple distributors. For example, if AMP is distributing "Track XYZ" to iTunes, you may not license "Track XYZ" to another distributor for sale on iTunes. • Monthly statements. AMP will send you detailed monthly statements with a check for any monies you have received from the downloads of your tracks. These statements will be broken down by each online service so that you can see where your tracks are being downloaded the most and by whom. • Experience. We have an extensive knowledge of the myriad aspects of the music industry and how labels and independent producers can take advantage of the rapidly growing digital download market.
While we welcome label catalogs, many producers have unreleased tracks: tracks that were previously released which they have since regained the copyrights from the label (for example when the term of the contract has expired), or different versions of tracks or remixes that were never released. These are the kinds of tracks that AMP is looking for, as well as new material from both known and undiscovered artists. As our standard licenses are non-exclusive, independent producers are free to let AMP distribute their music while trying to sign their tracks to a label for sale on vinyl or CD.
In addition to the benefits outlined above, distributing your music with AMP provides labels with incredible opportunities to expose and sell your music to the widest possible audience. Labels that only press small run vinyl singles are in effect cutting out 99.9% of the music buying public. By focusing on the major download outlets, AMP’s distribution can increase the potential audience for your music exponentially. Our relationships with the outlets ensures good placement, fast uptime and quality control. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us: AMP Collective LLC |
